Origin & Flavor
What is Gayo Arabica coffee?
Gayo Arabica is specialty-grade Arabica grown in the Central Aceh highlands of North Sumatra, Indonesia, at 1,200–1,700m. Named after the Gayo people of the region. SCA scores of 84–89 depending on processing. Available washed, natural, honey, and organic-certified. Exported FOB Belawan.
What are the flavor notes of Gayo Arabica?
Washed: jasmine, citrus, stone fruit (peach/apricot), clean, bright acidity.
Natural: blueberry, wine, tropical fruit, dark chocolate, heavy body.
Honey: stone fruit, caramel, sweet, balanced body and acidity.
Gayo suits specialty single-origin espresso, pour-over, AeroPress, and filter brewing.
Is Gayo the same as Sumatra coffee?
"Sumatra coffee" is a broad geographic term. Gayo is a specific high-altitude sub-origin (Central Aceh) producing specialty Arabica. "Sumatran" typically includes lower-scoring wet-hulled origins like Mandheling. For specialty purchases, always specify Gayo Grade 1 with processing method, not just "Sumatran."

What SCA score does Gayo Arabica achieve?
Washed: 84–87 SCA. Natural: 85–89 SCA. Honey: 83–87 SCA. All qualify as specialty grade (SCA 80+). Specific lot scores available upon sample request.
